Ενας απο τους μεγαλύτερους -εν ζωή- καλλιτέχνες, ο Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) στο εθιστικό Electricity, απο το άλμπουμ Safe as Milk του 1967, συνοδεία φυσικά της Magic Band του...
Electricity Singin through you to me Thunderbolts caught easily Shouts the truth peacefully Electricity High voltage man kisses night to bring the light to those who need to hide their shadow deed Go into bright find the light and know that friends don't mind just how you grow Midnight cowboy stained in black reads dark roads without a map To free-seeking electricity Lighthouse beacon straight ahead straight ahead across black seas to bring Seeking electricity High voltage man kisses night to bring the light to those who need to hide their shadow-deed hide their shadow-deed Seek electricity..........
Αποτέλεσμα της συνεργασίας του σπουδαίου Pascal Comelade (μουσικός με πολυδιάστατη έμπνευση) και της (πάντα) γλυκιάς PJ Harvey, το τραγούδι "Love too soon" απο το άλμπουμ του Comelade "L'argot du bruit" (1999). To τραγούδι ακούγεται και στην - πολύ καλή - ταινία του Hal Hartley "The Book of Life" (έχει παιχτεί απο τα κρατικά κανάλια 2-3 φορές (!!))
Love too soon I have loved In my life As a child I often cried
And love too soon Can fade away Love too soon Can fade away
In the sun Light of day I can see Your face change
And love too soon Fades away Love too soon Can fade away
And this dreadful Crime to see Breaks my heart Into pieces
Love too soon Can fade away Love too soon Can fade away
How false the heart How false the day When you swore your love The branches now decay
Love too soon And fades away Love too soon And fades away

Ο Daniel Lanois, στο "The Collection of Marie Claire", απο το άλμπουμ "For the Beauty of Wynona" του 1993.
The Collection of Marie Claire Marie-Claire, j'ai marche toute la soiree Ton portrait toujours pres de mon coeur Je veux te dire que je t'ai reve tout l'ete Marie-Claire, s'il te plait, n'est pas peur.
I brought you some colours to paint with On the nights when it's cold outside And I'll shoot that blue-eyed son of a bitch 'Cause it's me who'll have you for his bride
Marie-Claire, it's no good la vie d'une danseuse Tous les yeux, they're on you, I can't stand Don't you know that you are my amoureuse. Marie Claire, let them all be damned.
My hands have bled to the bone I brought you a drawing to see Of the cabin made of sticks and stones, And there you will learn to love me.
As I lay you there on the backseat, All in white there, dans mon char Take your time Marie Claire and sleep, As I bring you up to Labrador.
Απο το εξαιρετικό άλμπουμ των Cream "Disraeli Gears" (1967), ενα απο τα αγαπημένα μου τραγούδια, το Tales of Brave Ulysses.
Tales Of Brave Ulysses You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever, But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun.
And the colors of the sea blind your eyes with trembling mermaids, And you touch the distant beaches with tales of brave Ulysses: How his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing, For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips.
And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise, And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea. And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body, Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.
The tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers, And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.
Her name is Aphrodite and she rides a crimson shell, And you know you cannot leave her for you touched the distant sands With tales of brave Ulysses; how his naked ears were tortured By the sirens sweetly singing.
The tiny purple fishes run lauging through your fingers, And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter.

Απο το δεύτερο προσωπικό έργο άλμπουμ του Julian Cope "Fried" (1984), το συγκλονιστικό "Reynard The Fox"...
Reynard The Fox Hey in the pouring rain When the smell of terror brings a thousand eyes The red men come again They kill my children and they kill my wife And then they leave me bleeding Family dead, just freaking out bleeding Stoned in the gutter Empty of my colour I'm fried, fried, ticking in the side Body twitched from side to side I'm fried, fried, ticking in the side Body twitched from side to side
Run, run, Reynard, run, run, run You've got to run for an hour and you're still not done You've got to run, run, Reynard, run, run, run Away, away, away, away, away
Hey in the ice and snow When the call up sounds to the real in deed But do you really wanna know How we rode into freedom on whimsy and greed? And they said your time is over I don't see any gallant calls I don't see an inch of reflex 'cept to leave me bleeding Bleeding, bleeding, bleeding I'm fried, fried, ticking in the side Body twitched from side to side I'm fried, fried, ticking in the side Body twitched from side to side
Run, run, Reynard, run, run, run You've got to run for an hour and you're still not done Run, run, Reynard, run, run, run Away, away, away Run, run, Reynard, run, run, run You've got to run for an hour and you're still not done Run, run, Reynard, run, run, run Away, away, away, away, away
Reynard left and went to Warwickshire, to a mound near a railway line, with canals and a freezing swamp. He climbs high up above the countryside and breathes freely. To the south he could see Polesworth, and to the north he could just make out the ruins of the priory where Joss and I played cricket as children. We were only three miles away, probably drinking tea and talking,
(Have you heard about the orphan, sitting by the coffin)
at the same time as he was taking the stanley knife out of the bag. He pushed the point into his stomach,
(His Father's not a sinner no more)
until the light shone right through. And then he reached down, and he took the bag. It's a plastic bag With plastic handles And plastic sides and and And ANd AND HE SPILLED HIS GUTS ALL OVER THE STAGE HE SPILLED HIS GUTS ALL OVER THE STAGE
MYSTERY AND CONFUSION They were riding the Metro into town listening to the latest noise Modern girls with headphones on their heads modern European boys Βusinessmen in leather overcoats staring at their wrist T.V.'s Pale accountants balancing the books computers resting on their knees Modern Europe in between wars wears Japanese technology.. Why start a war when the future's just arrived? It's a mystery to me
